The infrastructure design details are considered Controlled Unclassified Information and cannot be shared. The US Army Corps of Engineers will be taking the lead on the design and construction of the feature, then it would be transferred to SFWMD to manage and maintain. Construction would take 5-7 years through 2031. March 2023 - SFWMD is in the Final Design for the C-11 Impoundment, with the intent to award a construction contract in late 2023 or early 2024.Ultimately, all of these components work together as a regional project to prevent flooding, manage seepage loss, capture stormwater and convey water for other purposes. The C-11 has an interior storage of 1,068 acres. The Seepage Management berm/area runs from the Miami-Dade/Broward County line at the south end to the northwest edge of Weston near I-75. The C-9 Impoundment is located in Miramar. The C-11 Impoundment is located in Weston. Design for the C-11 components remaining features is ongoing. The initial Northern Mitigation Area A Berm construction portion of the C-11 contract was completed in Nov. The project was authorized in the Water Resources, Reform and Development Act of 2014. After years of waiting, funding of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan has spurred action on the C-11 Impoundment in the Broward County Water Preserve Areas (BCWPA).
